Can Fund

Hi everyone, I found another good commercial done by Can Fund. It really sums up what Canadian athletes have to go through compared to other athletes around the world. I know that when I have told other Badminton Athletes from other countries what we have to do to be able to compete, they all can’t believe it. Many of them say they would never be competing in badminton if it was like that for them. Many Canadian athletes from all different sports, travel to tournaments around the world without a coach! Other teams arrive with managers, coaches, physio, massage. I have had coaches from other countries take pity on me and offer to coach me if they didn’t have any players competing at that time. I have also had other countries team physios ‘donate’ their time to me. This is not an uncommon practice of many Canadian Athletes. It does build a different kind of athlete though. There is a lot more sacrifice that Canadian athletes have to make. As a whole this type of commitment/sacrifice that us Canadian Athletes make bring us all together. When Canadian athletes get together we all swap horror stories that we all have experienced because of this lack of funding. It is definitely very bonding. We all can connect with each other this way. But it would be great in the future if we could find a connection to each other through winning medals instead of lack of funding.

First Play-off Match vs Odense

Hi, I want to put in a little correction. In the video I said that Ashley and Kim won 25-23 in the third game but it was actually only two games. I meant to say in the second game.

Women’s Doubles rally from the Semis Finals at the 2011 Canadian Nationals

Hey everyone, I came third in Women’s Doubles at the 2011 Canadian National Championships this past weekend. My doulbes partner and I Val Loker, took out the second seeds, then we lost in the semis in a monster match that lasted over an hour (21-17, 17-21, 21-16). I was a little disappointed we lost but it was a great game and it could have gone either way. Then we won the 3/4 play-off. I played great in that match so all in all the tournament was pretty good. Hope you guys like some of the rally I will try and get some other ones up soon, there were some really long ones!
